PERSONAL TASTE
After watching Boys Over Flowers I decided I must watch everything the beautiful Lee Min Ho stars in. Thus, my second drama was Personal Taste.
Let’s just put it out there. I LOVED this drama. I knew I was going to before I even watched it. I read the synopsis and I was already hooked.
I know, I know, this drama isn’t one of the most popular, but I think it’s great.
First let’s talk about Kae In. Song Ye Jin plays her brilliantly. She can make you laugh one moment and cry the next. She’s that innocent, naive character that you just can’t help but root for. Yeah, she’s a little TOO naive at times and kind of makes you want to slap her awake to the real world but you just can’t not like her.
Now the other star of this series: Jin Ho. Lee Min Ho did such a great job with him. Througout the drama you could just see it in his eyes that he was falling for Gae In. Lee Min Ho is one of those actors that doesn’t need words to express emotion. You just feel it and that’s true talent.
Their love story was done so well. It was friendship that grew to love and that’s exactly what love should be. The love of your life should be your best friend.
I think the beautiful part about their love was what they were willing to give up for each other. She would have stayed by his side even if he really was gay and he risked his career because he loved her.
I know a lot people think Gae In was really pathetic when she said she would have married him even if he was gay, and yeah it’s a little extreme, but I think that almost showed her strength. She loved this man so much that she just didn’t care. She just wanted to be with him. Even if it was just as his friend.
As for the other characters in the drama, I loved Chang Ryul. Yeah, he did not so great things but in the end he showed his heart and took responsibility for the things he did. I kind of think he was more of a rain soaked puppy than Gae In, but in the most adorable way.
I didn’t care much for Gae In’s best friend but I LOVED Jin Ho’s hyung. Oh my, he was just great. The way he pretended to be gay just had me laughing everytime.
Of course I can’t leave out In Hee. God, how I just wanted to enter my computer and slap her, but that’s part of what made me love the show. If you can evoke that much passion from the audience, even over the villian, you’re doing something right.
Personal Taste was just a sweet romance story. It was friendship and love and lust and it was just perfect in my eyes.
